About Me
My name is Tony and I live in Alwoodley with my wife (and teenage sweetheart) Nicola, our two sons Elliot and Bobby, and two rescue dogs; Jake, a Border Lakeland terrier and Josie, a Patterdale terrier. I have lived in north Leeds for all my thirty eight years (university aside) and have been working alongside dogs since 2004, and professionally walking dogs since 2010. Having not been fortunate enough to grow up with dogs at home (I pestered my parents for years - "Can we get a dog?") I found myself rehoming my first dog shortly after moving to my own house in my early twenties. As a lifelong dog lover I now cannot imagine a home without dogs!
I love the outdoors and enjoy spending many hours walking and exploring the parks and woodlands of Leeds and beyond. My two dogs have also ventured to the Dales, the Lakes, the east coast, and the Cairngorms on family holidays - watch out sheep!

Having been employed in a professional context with dogs for over six years before starting Man's Best Friend I have been directly involved in handling all manner of dogs from large to small, timid to aggressive, poorly to full of health. As part of my previous role, I have been responsible for the safety and wellbeing of dogs in my care on a daily basis and attending to their widely differing needs. A responsibility that I have always enjoyed and always treat each dog as if it were one of my own.

Through my previous employment I have completed courses and been fully trained in dog first aid, handling dangerous dogs and understanding canine aggression, and in conjunction with The Dogs Trust I have also micro-chipped hundreds of dogs. I have made regular visits with abandoned dogs to veterinary surgeries, often as a matter of urgency, and also aided in the rehoming of stray dogs - something which I strongly encourage any prospective dog owner to consider!

During any further spare time I may have I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, star gazing, reading, gardening, listening to music, watching films (and following Leeds United!).

I decided to start up Alwoodley Professional Dog Walking Service so I could have the opportunity to continue to offer care to canines in a pleasurable, positive and playful manner. After more than seven years in my new venture I have gained many wonderful canine and human friends along the way. I look forward to many more years of providing this quality local service for both you and your dogs.
